selvasannathi is a most famous murugan temple which has been located at thondamanaru. It is for 20km from Jaffna town. It is referred to as sellakathirkaamam of north. Everyone wants to visit to this temple without any discrimination. In 16^th century .it was deliberately demolished by English rulers.

Like as other Hindu temples. Fresh water of thondamanaaru flows into the sea and it creates true ergonomic environment for worship being at kathirkamam. There is a truth story behind the temple. Story tells that kadirkamar is a keen devotee of murugan. He was rewarded with the gift of silver “vel” because he had very deep devotion on murugan. He worshiped that sacred vel in madam at the sacred site in the temple.

He prayed daily and performed poojas to it. Nowadays his generation have been managing this temple on their own very well officiate the temple forever.
